Consider an EV with the following details. Tire rolling friction coefficient = 0.01, Ratio of Gear ratio to the radius of the tyres = 15, acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m/s2 . Equivalent mass for rotational mass can be taken as 5% of total mass. The wheel is connected to a three phase induction motor with a gear. The maximum torque of the motor is 200 Nm. The maximum percentage grade of the vehicle is 25.

About NPTEL Electric Vehicles Course:

This course will be a first level course on electric vehicle. Students will be able tounderstand the operation of battery driven electric vehicle. The course will start withintroduction section which will enable the students to understand the focus areas thatcome under the umbrella of electric vehicles. Then the course will start covering this focusareas one by one such as vehicle dynamics, Motors, Power Electronics, Batteries,Charging etc. The most important part of this course will be that each topic will beanalyzed and demonstrated through Matlab Simulink, so that the grip of the subject willbe strong and the knowledge acquired will be useable in real time applications.

  • Week 1  :  Introduction to Electric Vehicle
  • Week 2  :  Vehicle Dynamics: Modelling and Simulation
  • Week 3  :  Fundamental of Drives and DC Machine Modeling
  • Week 4  :  DC Machine Drives and Control of EV Using DC Machine
CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE:

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.
